LETRAMENTO EM SAÚDE DE CUIDADORES INFORMAIS DE CRIANÇAS VINCULADAS A UM PROGRAMA DE ATENÇÃO DOMICILIAR DA AMAZONIA LEGAL BRASILEIRA
Abstract
The study analyzed the level of health literacy (HL) among informal caregivers of children assisted by a Home Care Service (HCS) in the Brazilian Legal Amazon, considering sociodemographic factors and possible implications for the quality of care provided. This quantitative, cross-sectional, and analytical-descriptive research was conducted with 30 caregivers living in Palmas, Tocantins, between September 2024 and February 2025. Data were collected through a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Brazilian Test of Functional Health Literacy in Adults (B-TOFHLA). The sample was predominantly female (96.7%), with a mean age of 32.2 years. Results showed that 93.3% of participants had adequate health literacy, 6.7% marginal, and none inadequate. Education level was the only variable significantly associated with performance (p<0.01). Greater difficulty was observed in the numeracy dimension compared to reading comprehension. It is concluded that HL directly influences the safety and quality of home care, highlighting the importance of educational strategies aimed at strengthening the competencies of informal caregivers in the Amazon region.
