Revisão integrativa
Abstract
Gestational hypertension is considered a public health problem due to its high hospitalization costs. This study aimed to evaluate maternal complications caused by gestational hypertension. This is a literature review conducted in the following databases: SciELO, LILACS, BDENF, and MEDLINE, using the respective descriptors: "Obstetric Nursing" AND "Women's Health" AND "Pregnancy-induced hypertension," between the years 2014 and 2023. The selection of articles followed these inclusion criteria: studies available in full text free of charge in Portuguese, published in the last five years, whose results meet the objectives of this study. Duplicate articles and those that, after full reading, were found not to meet the research objectives were excluded. It has been observed that most pregnant women present with mild symptoms that do not progress to severe conditions; however, in certain cases, progression to the severe form of the disease can occur rapidly, within days or hours. The primary goal of treatment is to prevent maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, especially up to delivery. Therefore, qualified assistance from a multidisciplinary team and nurses is necessary.
