Exposed Cerrado

Abstract

Gabriel Oliveira Cassimiro (27) is a visual artist and illustrator originally from Augustinópolis, Tocantins, and currently based in Goiânia, Goiás. Holding a degree in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT), he creates work that bridges memory, lived experience, and technical knowledge of the Cerrado. His art investigates the ecological relationships between fauna, flora, and the landscape, viewing human beings as active, sentient participants in this ecosystem. Drawing on personal experiences within the biome—including time spent in rural and riverine communities—he constructs visual narratives that intertwine memory and territory.

Keywords: Gabriel Oliveira; Cerrado; illustration; folklore; fauna and flora.
