Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate and compare the eating habits of medical students at the University of Gurupi (UnirG), considering residence status and the combination of study and work. This is an applied, quantitative, cross-sectional, and descriptive-comparative study. A total of 103 medical students aged 18 years or older participated. Data were collected through a structured online questionnaire applied between April and November 2025, including sociodemographic information, academic routine, workload, food consumption frequency, and health perception. Data analysis included descriptive and inferential statistics, using normality tests, chi-square test, ANOVA, or Kruskal–Wallis test, according to data distribution, with a significance level of 5%. Insufficient consumption of healthy foods and greater dietary irregularity were observed among students who study and work, especially non-resident students. The findings indicate that academic workload, employment, and living conditions influence eating habits, highlighting the need for institutional strategies to promote healthy eating in the university setting.
